Biden’s Tone-Deaf Response to Disaster: Victims of Devastating Fires Get Insulting 0 ‘One-Time Payment’ While Sending Billions Overseas

Biden and senior officials met Monday night to address the federal response to the Los Angeles County wildfires

Joe Biden’s administration has offered a mere $770 in “one-time payments” to individuals devastated by the catastrophic wildfires in Los Angeles.

This paltry sum is a stark contrast to the billions of dollars being funneled overseas. This is a slap in the face to those who have lost homes, livelihoods, and loved ones.

The Los Angeles wildfires have wreaked havoc, resulting in at least 24 deaths and the destruction of thousands of structures. Over 150,000 residents have been forced to evacuate, with entire neighborhoods reduced to ashes.

In the face of such widespread devastation, the federal government’s response has been alarmingly inadequate.

On Monday, Joe Biden announced a federal commitment to support recovery efforts in California.

Speaking during a briefing with Kamala Harris and emergency officials, Biden vowed that the federal government will cover 100% of disaster response costs for the next six months.

“And I want to be clear, we’re not waiting until those fires are over to start helping the victims,” Biden announced. “We’re getting them help right now, as you all know.”

“People impacted by these fires are going to receive a one-time payment of $770, one-time payment, so they can quickly purchase things like water, baby formula, and prescriptions. So far, nearly 6,000 survivors have registered to do just that, and $5.1 million has gone out,” he added.

This is not the first instance of the administration’s mismanagement during times of disaster.

In the aftermath of the August 2023 Maui wildfires, Biden’s FEMA provided a one-time payment of $700 per household to address immediate needs such as clothing, food, and transportation.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, which claimed over 200 lives, FEMA offered an initial payment of $750 to help individuals cover essential items such as food, water, baby formula, and other emergency supplies.
