The former Liberal Premier of Ontario, Kathleen Wynne is feeling vindicated as the now “Conservative” Premier, Doug Ford has endorsed the “green” policies her government once pushed.
When Doug Ford campaigned against the former Liberal Premier, he told the North American Platform Against WindPower that “The Liberals’ disastrous energy policy, the Green Energy Act, and the lucrative subsidies given to “renewables” – especially inefficient wind energy – have cost our province dearly.”
Ford continued by adding, “Thanks to heavily-subsidized and over-priced wind power that we do not need, electricity rates have skyrocketed.”
Doug Ford has now completely deceived his Conservative base by flip-flopping on those comments as the province has plans to procure an additional 5,000 megawatts of renewable energy by 2034.
Recently, on the cusp of Doug Ford calling an election no one in Ontario wants, Kathleen Wynne was on the 905er Podcast discussing the Ford government’s flip-flop on “green” energy from its earlier position when they campaigned against Wynne.
She told the host, who asked if she felt vindicated after Ford’s flip-flop, “To the degree that they were policies that we had in place – you know, you’re welcome for the idea.“
“You’re welcome for the idea”
– Former Liberal Premier Kathleen Wynne on Doug Ford committing to more Liberal “green” policies
Doug Ford wasn’t wrong though, inefficient “green” energy does cost Ontarians dearly. In a recent report, TD Bank estimated that by replacing existing gas generators with renewables like wind and solar, Ontario electricity costs could increase by an average of 20 percent by 2035 compared to 2021 – how’s that for affordability in Ontario?
Doug Ford supports the Liberal’s DEI programs, he is now pushing the Liberal’s “green” energy ideas that drive up the cost of electricity for Ontarians and he “absolutely loves” former Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland. Simply put, Doug Ford is anything but a Conservative.
The good news is that if Ontario wants a genuine Conservative alternative that carries themselves with integrity and is willing to go to bat for Ontarians they have one in the New Blue party of Ontario.
It’s time to stop voting for fake Conservatives who quickly run to support Liberal policies that hurt Ontarians. It’s time for something new – it’s time for something really blue.
